The Swiveller
Level Summary
The Swiveller is survival level introduced in Free-for-all Season 1. It was a simple level on a moving ring shaped platform that required players to avoid obstacles and keep moving as long as they can. A powerful fan in the centre is also chasing them and will push off players if they are too slow. The longer the round lasts the faster the ring will move making it more difficult. Players will qualify when a certain number of other players have been eliminated.
Main design goal of this round was to create a simple level that primarily utilised the new Jump Rope obstacle like similar levels such as Roll Out or Hex-a-gone.

Prototyping
I initially prototyped many different ideas, working with my Lead to narrow them down to the more feasible designs and prioritising designs that had the ability to be developed with as little engineering support as possible.

-
Jumping over the jump rope obstacles whilst being on a moving platform felt really fun and let players feel skilful whilst still giving that core Fall Guys slapstick element

Balancing Difficulty
Originally the level required players to complete a certain amount of laps without falling off to qualify but that led to situations where very few players would qualify and the overall length of the round was incredibly short on average.

Changed the level to a pure survival level with an elimination quota being the condition for it ending. Doing this combined with taking more control of the platforms movement speed and adding a fan to the centre of the stage to knock off players who are going too slow made the level feel more complete.

-
With the fan I had to work out timing of fan so players can get away from it whilst not being able to catch up.

Working out a difficulty of the obstacles present, creating a better sense of peaks and valleys. instead of intense the entire way through. Original was jump ropes all around. Keep starting area a space for catching your breath
